Field Notes contributions

TFS Field Notes are contributions from TFS members themselves. Any TFS member that identifies an object that appears them as old, historic and shaped by hand- Be it an old building, a favorite old coffee cup, a small wooden rural bridge or an ancient door or ship wreck, to snap a photo and send it to TFS.   This is our – the people’s – history.  It must be documented.

Horton Bay, michigan where the Past is still standing

Horton Bay is small village located on the northeastern shore of Lake Charlevoix, Michigan.  Historically a lumber town, it’s known for its scenic beauty, rural quiet atmosphere and connection to the young Ernest Hemingway, who was married for the first time in Horton Bay Church.

Where wood, craft, and history meet

TFS member Allen Pertner makes his first dive on what may be a historical shipwreck. This year’s dive season is just months away and documentation work needs to be done. Contact TFS for more information.
